Van played trumpet with me in the band at Crossland. There were 6 of us who played trumpet at the games, etc. He and I were close friends during these years. He was one chair ahead of me. I played 2nd trumpet. I was surprised and saddened.

Van was my best friend thru much of high school.

we did a lot and then lost touch after he was at VMI for a couple of years. We both liked Debbie _____  (CO73) and I took her out once and then Van took her out. That was it. They were together to Van's death.

They were Christians and came to God long before I did, but I'm so happy that they were when Van had the accident.

I want to thank Alan Mills for filling me in after Van's death which I still can't believe.Debbie has remarried. I have lost touch with her but think she lives in Colorado Springs. One of my sons  lives there and I would love to say hello if she sees this.

Van was always smiling and laughing. He was also one of the finest concert pianists I have ever heard. I know he is playing somewhere.
